New Title
Aramis Vineyards - McLaren Vale
Aramis Wines takes its name from one of the three famous musketeers, central figures in an enormously popular 19th century novel by Alexandre Dumas. Fearless in combat and great lovers of life, food and wine. Our mission is to produce world class organically grown Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon from South Australia's McLaren Vale.
This is showcased in our flagship wine The Governor, the top parcel selection of our Shiraz. The Governor Shiraz is only released in limited amounts and after a period of aging in oak barriques and bottle.
Aramis Vineyards are situated in the south-western fringes of the McLaren Vale region. Sited on a long, steep, south-facing slope, the vines look across to the rounded shapes of the nearby Willunga Hills.
The sandy beaches of Gulf St Vincent lie only a few kilometres to the west, placing vines in easy reach of the maritime breezes supplementing the distinctive Mediterranean climate of McLaren Vale, in which subtropical warm, dry summers alternate with cool, wet winters. The annual rainfall is just over 580mm.
McLaren Vale’s geological strata comprise a melange of soil types and ancient rock; the soil of the Aramis vineyards, lie along an ancient watercourse, largely alluvial in origin.
Owner and operator of a wine distribution organisation established in 1998, Lee Flourentzou has an affinity for food, wine, music and hospitality that it is partly attributable to his Greek heritage. A man blessed with seemingly boundless energy as well as eclectic interests, his enthusiasm has seen him take on numerous roles with an entrepreneurial spirit, including wine, food and music.
However, wine is unequivocally Lee’s chief interest, and a long-nurtured ambition to create a high-quality wine of his own crystallised in 1998 with the selection and purchase of a vineyard block near Aldinga, on the fringe of the McLaren Vale wine region.
